Earth is some billion years, Earth Day is 40, how old are we ?

Yes, today is Earth Day which was officially declared and celebrated forty years ago for the first time in 1970, to raise awareness among all the people, and is celebrated by people from all over the world. So wishing everyone a Happy Earth Day !

What have I done for the betterment of the planet ? This is what I thought before writing this post. Firstly, whats most important is self-awareness, which is what I'm undergoing. I did plant many trees in my life uptil now, and voluteered many a times in treks, and such visits meant for understanding nature. But there is a long way to go to make a difference. Well every small bit counts.

Now whoever is reading this is educated enough and knows all what we are supposed to do and NOT. We have been taught all this right from an early age. But yet, you will see many behave and do things (like littering on streets, carelessness by keeping lights on when not required .. etc. and all that we know, yet many a times fail to follow) what is not meant to be done and avoided. But there is no point in discussing about it, as this is one of those things in life that has to be done practically without theory.

Well today I took a pledge at http://www.savemyoceans.com/pledge.php

Had a walk in fresh air.

Thats my Earth Day story, apart from my regular routine.
Whats yours ?

 Out of Topic -

Moreover,  in this respect, while reading more about today's occasion's background, I just happen to confirm there are officially 196 countries in the world, but oftenly 192 is mistaken which is actually the no. of UN members.(I was searching how many countries actually celebrate Earth Day today)

What caught my eye more is (which I thought I might share with others and some unfortunate landmates living in ignorance)

5 Minute Management Course

Lesson 1:

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob , the next-door neighbor..

Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you $800 to drop that towel.'

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob , after a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, 'Who was that?'

'It was Bob the next door neighbour,' she replies.

'Great,' the husband says, 'did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?'

Moral of the story:

If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Lesson 2:

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.

They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, 'I'll give each of you just one wish.'
'Me first! Me first!' says the admin clerk 'I want to be in the Bahamas , driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.'
Puff! She's gone.

'Me next! Me next!' says the sales rep. 'I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.'
Puff! He's gone.

'OK, you're up,' the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, 'I want those two back in the office after lunch'

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 3:

A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said,”Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest removed his hand. But,changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, “Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest apologized “Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.” Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, “Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.”

Moral of the story:
If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Lesson 4:

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.

A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing?'
The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.'

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on th e rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson 5:

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.'
'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. They're packed with nutrients..'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at t he top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:
Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson 6:

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.

The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story:
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your
friend.

(3 ) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep
your mouth shut.

Whose Twitter Followers Are Dumber?

Ever wonder who’s more stupid: Justin Bieber’s followers or Ashton Kutcher’s? Well, wonder no more — there’s a new app in town that will gauge Twitter idiocy for you.

Tom Scott, of Tweleted fame, has come out with a new website called Stupid Fight that measures the mental capacity of someone’s Twitter followers by sifting through the last 100 people to @ reply to the person in question. According to the site’s FAQs:

“It estimates based on several stupid indicators. Are they using twenty exclamation marks in a row? Do they endlessly use the abbreviation ‘OMG’? Do they seem incapable of working out where their Shift key is? These indicators have a strong correlation with the message, and its sender, being stupid.”
Scott hypes the site as a way to determine how stupid the followers of celebs are, but it works just as well with your personal Twitter account. Bieber and Kutcher were pit against each other below as a test. Seeing as how “Justin Bieber” is an extremely popular trending topic, the results are actually quite worrisome.

Be sure to check it out.

A marvelous answer !

A mechanic was removing the cylinder heads from the motor of a car when he spotted a famous heart surgeon in his shop, who was standing off to the side, waiting for the service manager to come to take a look at his car.

The mechanic shouted across the garage," Hello Doctor!! Please come over here for a minute."

The famous surgeon, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked argumentatively, "So doctor, look at this. I also open hearts, take valves out, grind 'em, put in new parts, and when I finish this will work as a new one ... So how come you get the big money, when you and me is doing basically the same work ? "

The doctor leaned over and whispered to the mechanic ...

Doctor said: “Try to do it when the Engine is RUNNING”.

LPU chat with Mark Fiore 31.3.2010 crashed by Mike and Chester !

As many of you know, on 31.3.2010 at 4 PM PDT (well yesterday [and many others] 4:30 AM in the morning for me!) it was scheduled for Mark Fiore, the LP videographer, to do his very first LP chat in the LPU. Things went smoothly at the beginning but two of the guys we love had other plans XD

It was about time for the chat with Mark Fiore to start when Mike decided to suprise us by passing by the LPU chat room and replying to some questions (including mine, as always XD ). Other than that he asked us to join a site called U-Stream and he told us that he may be doing a live video chat sometime. That got everyone excited ! A few minutes later he said that he has to record something with Chester and that he'll be back later.

Finally, 3 minutes after Mike went offline, Fiore joined us. I had the feeling that it was gonna be a great chat cause we dont get to chat with LP's videographer all the time! Actually we never did until yesterday. Í had some questions in mind, since this guy got to see Linkin Park in a way which no other fan can. Not long after the chat had started, Mike went online again and told to go to his U-Stream cause he was about to do a video chat with him and Chester. Every singly person left the chat in hurry to go see Mike and Chester! I felt pretty bad actually at the time...Poor Fiore :( First chat he ever did and he got dumped for a video chat with Mike and Chester. That must have hurt. :P

the first major part of the chat recorded

In video chat now, some of the hilarious things were: Mike reading the stuff we wrote as he thought he wasnt on air yet :P It was pretty funny! You should have seen his face! LOL Another funny thing was that we were actually talking about Shinoda's hair, the best iPhone apps ("plants vs. zombies", "evernote", and "cho chop nigza" which he mentioned, apart from 8-Bit Rebellion which happened to crash because Mike was playing with the volume :P), Chester's tattoos...and a lot of other interesting and funny things including talking with Fiore on the phone (meaning multiple chat) who initially sent Mike a 'nasty' text :P, asking Mike about a painting he has on his wall (it's awesome btw...Futura made it) and other stuff...

When the guys went offline, because of the spamming, we headed back to the LPU chat in which everyone could ask anything without order :)
But those two guys came back in a while, spoke bit more and went off saying that we'll do this again sometime. Back to the Fiore chat, it was pretty cool...Fiore gave us some insights about the upcoming LPTV and LPUTV episodes, the process of making and editing the videos, his favorite places he visited and of course he told us how's life with Linkin Park and that he likes to play golf with Phi at times :)

That's basically what happened yesterday...pretty awesome day! Full of Awesomeness as Mike said :)

Funny Chester ! reading the chat while Mike is calling up Fiore  XD

100 - From the start till now

Ok so this is my 100th post here in my blog, so I decided to make it special, by writing about how I started this blog and bit more. If you manage to have a look at my initial posts, you would see that they are photographs taken by me (and some others too) during the camp at 'Seek Him at Sikkim', which I attended in May 2007, roughly almost three years ago! It was another great and different experience, awesome people from all around the country together for the camp, trek and travel there.

What made me more enthusiastic was not only the beauty of mother nature, but also the enthusiasm should by the folks in different ways. I should first owe my thanks to my friend cum mentor in this case, Rohit Hedge who is a great wildlife photographer himself (hobby). Wildlife photography has always been one of my favorite hobby apart from reading and gaming, and I always carry a camera/phone even today, to catch the beauty offered by life.

This led me to blogging, where internet was just booming among teenagers and others in the world, and some weirdos like me who were already in many social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook, Youtube etc. who did nothing but played some stupid game or the other, and already bored of them which the world was catching interest in. Something new is always needed. Experimentalism runs in the blood. This led me to start blogging. Amazed by the numerous blogs ranging from a variety of topics, I decided to make one of my own - thus was born Expedition around the Megacosm.

Today I enjoy blogging a lot. From photography, it has given way to many interesting stuff like articles, documentaries, events ... lot more ! Reading blogs from various people, writing/posting my own, this all just adds to the joy of knowing. Blogging has become like a social network itself. Many people (including celebrities) keep    blogs up to date, which has become a great way of sharing news and events. Sharing with the world, is what everything here is about ! No wonder leading to a variety of websites, for eg Twitter, which can be considered a miniature blogging site limited to 140 characters. (This reminds me of the war between Mike Shinoda and Phoenix of Linkin Park, Blogging vs. Twittering) :)

Some of my top favourite blogs -

Speaking of blogs, do you know from where does the term 'blog' actually come from ? Its comes from 'web log', just what it really is. So have you got a blog yet ?
