The news of the resignation of Steve Jobs as Apple's CEO just simple shook the world leaving the people surprised and for some hard to digest. The man regarded as a legend in today's world being a revolutionary in technology, his innovations and inventions paving way for a generation of technologists, entrepreneurs and innovators.
Steve Jobs is regarded as an icon. Very likely one gets to see such a man of simple taste and great excellence, but the truth is those two facts only go together.
If it weren't for him, the world wouldn't have the (precious) personal computers on which more than half the world or so runs. The maker of the music revolutionary iPod and the exotic Mac, so natural for the internet to be flooded with his news of resignation, marking an end of the 'Steve Jobs era' for technology and Apple, being the company's co-founder and two time CEO.
This is the resignation letter Steve Jobs sent to the Apple board:
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
Simple and Powerful. With that the iGod stepped down as the leader of the world's biggest and most innovative company which he himself founded with his Steve Wozniak in his garage.
But worry not as he still continues to follow his vision of excellence by serving as the Chairman of the board and (as the great man stated) as an Apple employee.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.Steve

Not only is he a genius in technology and business but a clear modern day realistic example that life is not easy, and anyone can come up with will. His start was not that beautiful but look today and think for yourself. And even today, he urges everyone to think different, be innovative and follow your own heart.
For millions of people and myself, Steve Jobs has been a great source of inspiration and icon. His work, principles and pretty much everything he does 'changes' the world in some manner as how technology (and business) is approached (with a unending line of copy cats that is)
Here is a video of his commencement speech at Standford University in 2005, where little he knew that his speech would not only affect the students of the institute but millions across the globe. Yet again, simple, powerful and straight from the heart, his own words and personal experience and not those 'motivation speeches' worded by the secretary or librarian and spoken out by a speech giver.

Stay hungry, stay foolish.
